SOCIAL WORK INTERNSHIP

Center for Justice Social Work partners with many different universities to host social work students during their practicum placements

INTERN SCOPE OF WORK

CJSW receives referrals from partnered organizations (Police & Fire) to respond immediately or after the call is complete. In situations where social workers are needed immediately, they can provide de-escalation, crisis intervention, brief therapeutic intervention, assist with ITA paperwork, coordinate with hospital and DCR staff, and coordinate services for the individual moving forward. When a community member is not in need of immediate CJSW social work response, partners can send a referral to the CJSW team. In these situations, social workers will complete a biopsychosocial assessment to get a better understanding of the individual needs, provide interventions based on the assessment, collaborate with other community providers, assist with obtaining services and addressing any barriers, and provide case management resources to ensure long-term success.
